Those of who are trying to get out of the Borg....
by Flowerpetal inare you still going in service?
if so, how do you present your message?
i'm sure you disagree with a lot of wt teachings, so how are you handling this?
-
Doubtfully Yours
When I go out on service I only present one article from one of the magazines that I personally might find interesting information to know about. I always find something, specially in the Awake! mag.
I never present books or pamphlets. However, I do not go out on service all that often to worry about finding people at home.

What The....
There are many, many, many of us still 'active' Witnesses that, because of our doubts, just go through the motions and consider the WTBTS just another man-made organized religion. So, do not think you're alone by any means.
Having studied the whole situation for a good couple of years now, I dare say that there are more inside the feel the way I do than there are blind-faithful ones.
Take good care of yourself and yours.

What's happened to the preaching work?
by Dark Knight insomething happened the other night that got me thinking.
i met a christian in one of the local malls and he did the usual preaching about jesus routine, trying to convince me that i am a sinner and how i need jesus and all that jazz.
he wasn't a jw, but rather he was from one of the local revivalist churches.. now what i'm thinking is that i've been out of the org for almost three years now.

JH,
Many are plain sick of the Society crying 'wolf'.
And, yes, many of us live a more normal life and comply with some of the religion's stuff to keep the elders out of our hair.

In the territory I live in, preaching is totally useless!
I make it a point to be seen in service some Saturday mornings; when we finally reach this far away territory, there are hardly any Spanish-speaking individuals to give the message to. Plenty of 'not at home' doors, and the ones that are there don't open or are plain busy with their everyday lives to even care.
Whenever I make an appearance to go out on service, I just end up wasting valuable time that could be put to use around my property, or just plain relaxing like normal people do on weekends!
I HATE PREACHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Growing Critical Study of Jehovah's Witnesses.
by Blueblades in.
almost from the beginning, the bible student--jehovah's witness movement has had its severe critics.in the past criticism was ordinarily directed at its doctrinal, civic or blood transfusion issues.
some dissidents who broke with the society also censured the wt.authority struture and inconsistencies in wt.theology.a few attempted to take their concern to the general public.. beginning in about 1980 all of that changed.in the past little harm came to the society from their critics.however devastating criticism has been unleashed against the society, especially since 1980. this devastating criticism has been leveled at the heart of the society's history of ever-changing date setting speculation, shifting and changing doctrine, and the concealment-of-errors strategies has been exposed by recourse to wt.literature itself.. the wt.officials have no recourse ( because they are unable to respond adequately ) but, to declare all dissidents as apostates and forbid the reading of all anti-witness materials.including on the internet.which includes this forum maintained by simon and all who have an in-put here-in.. good work everyone and welcome to the team of the ever growing critical study of jehovah's witnesses.. blueblades.

This religious organization will continue to evolve in order to adjust to current times and practices.
Being in the inside, I notice that they don't mess that much anymore with homosexual-related stuff. Trying to guard themselves from lawsuits and heavy media critics, I suppose. Also, before they'd disfellowship someone for stupid small stuff, and now it seems like you have to really mess up BIG and continuously without repentance for them to even consider disfellowshipping.
Then, again, this is just the way I perceive it.
